Mevlut Uysal, Mayor of Istanbul and Mevlut Cavusoglu, Minister of Foreign Affairs visited the Istanbul International Youth Center construction yard in Bakirkoy. Mayor Uysal has announced, "The world's best youth center will be completed by the end of 2019." Minister Cavusoglu said, "We have started to take steps to make it the Youth Center of United Nations.“ Minister Cavusoğlu also visited City Youth Council and met with young people.”
Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu has paid a visit to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Youth Center construction and City Youth Council . Secretary-General Hayri Baracli, Youth Council President Samed Agirbas and a large number of youth council members participated in the meeting held at the Youth Council in Sarachane. Cavusoglu said that he's been closely following the activities of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Youth Council.
AGIRBAS - YOUTH OF ISTANBUL FOLLOWS THE VISION OF PRESIDENT ERDOGAN
The City Youth Council President Samed Agirbas expressed his gratitude for hosting the Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and continued: "The Youth Council was founded by President Recep Tayyip Erdogon and he never let young people down since then. We are following his vision knowing that it is the youth who will carry Turkey to the 2023 and 2071 goals. Four years ago building an international youth center project was determined, and now we are counting down the days to reach the opening of the International Youth Center,” he said. Following the interview, Minister Cavusoglu and Mayor Uysal went to the construction yard in Bakirkoy.
UYSAL - INTERNATIONAL YOUTH CENTER WILL BE A MODEL FOR THE WORLD
After visiting the project, Mayor Uysal said that the facility will be a model for the world. Underlining that according to the plan and current speed of construction process, the Youth Center will be completed by the end of 2019, "Now we are on the land of the International Youth Center of Istanbul Municipality which have been suggested as the United Nations Youth Center by the President Erdogan in the United Nations Assembly. Proceeding with rough construction in some parts and with fine work in the rest, the center will be completed soon. Including foyer areas, exhibition areas, multi-purpose halls, an amphitheater, indoor&outdoor sports areas and guesthouses for visitors from abroad this center will be a star among the youth centers worldwide," said Mayor Uysal.
MINISTER CAVUSOGLU - ISTANBUL WILL BE A UN HEADQUARTER
Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggested to establish a Youth Center in Istanbul linked to the United Nations, Istanbul Municipality continued its work with this vision. "We want to make Istanbul, like New York, Geneva, and Vienna, one of the headquarters of the UN," he added. Reminding that the Istanbul Youth Center suggestion of Erdoğan echoed quite good at the UN, Cavusoglu said, "It was one of the most talked topics in New York that week. We have started the initiatives to make it happen and sent a letter to the Secretary-General of UN. The next step will be officially applying. So the construction and the procedures will be carried out simultaneously. I would like to thank Mayor Mevlut Uysal and his colleagues. In one of the most beautiful locations of Istanbul, this center would be a great opportunity for the youth of the world."
